Privacy Policy

Standard 4 - Privacy, Dignity & Confidentiality

"Each individual's/Service & family’s "right to privacy, dignity and confidentiality in all aspects of his or her life is recognised and protected.”

We recognise and respect each individual’s/Service and family’s right to privacy, dignity and confidentiality in all aspects of their lives. We ensure that individuals enjoy:

  • freedom from intrusion and public attention at the ISASC site
  • being treated with honour, respect and dignity thereby reflecting their culture, community and providing a positive influence for their self esteem
  • an assurance that written and spoken information is protected from access and use by unauthorised persons

We only collect information that is directly relevant to effective service delivery. All written, verbal, observed and electronic information is treated as private and confidential.

Information about an individual that is sought from another source that is required for service delivery can only be obtained with the individuals’ written consent (or the written consent of the person responsible or legal guardian). No information is to be disclosed about an individual without their written consent (or the written consent of the person responsible or legal guardian) Information is stored in a secure manner and kept a designated length of time as per requirements under the IPSP Guidelines.

Except:

  • non-identifying data required by funding bodies and by government departments for planning purposes
  • where disclosure is required or authorised by law (such as court subpoena or staff testifying under oath)
  • where the disclosure is necessary to prevent or lessen serious threat to the life or health of the person being supported, staff or another person
     

Please note that this means we will promptly report any cases of child abuse or neglect that is disclosed to us.
